Instructor:  Susan Bowden,  Master Food Preserver

Join Susan Bowden, a professional baker with 45 years experience, in rediscovering the lost art of pie-making!  Walk through the process of making   successful pie crust from scratch.   Learn how to mix and handle pastry with the ease that comes of hands-on experience.  Choose from fresh fall apples or handmade peach pie filling to fill your pie, and watch a demonstration on canning your own homemade pie filling using Clear-Jel, a special thickener that holds up to water bath canning.  You’ll be assembling a whole pie to take home and bake in your oven, as well as baking a single pie crust to later fill with cream filling.  Receive a booklet of tried-and-true recipes, tips (does vodka really make a better pie crust?) and enjoy samples, too!  With Thanksgiving just around the corner, this is a great time to master a new skill and surprise your family with fragrant and delicious home baked pies for the holidays. Yum!
